19 students in Albany’s Trades Academy took a tour on Wednesday of Wood Castle, a local hardwood furniture factory and showroom on Highway 34 west of Albany. Scott Pierson, the head of operations, showed them the entire scope of the business, including which woods are chosen and why, how each is used in crafting fine furniture, how the finished products are put together, and what’s done with each bit of scrap along the way.

Workplace tours are extremely valuable for students. Our partner businesses give tremendous time and energy for the purpose of informing/preparing students for manufacturing demands and opportunities.
